Pi Nu Chapter
Northeastern Illinois University - Chartered: March 21, 1992
On March 21, 1992, the quest to capture a vision fair became a reality. The chartering of Pi Nu Chapter at Northeastern Illinois University was a historic event. Not only for the women who had struggled with making their dream a reality but, it also was a historic moment for Northeastern Illinois University. Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Inc. is the first Black Greek-letter organization on the campus of Northeastern Illinois University.
Pi Nu collaborates with the sponsoring graduate chapter, Xi Nu Omega, on International Community Impact Days and other programs to strengthen the Chicagoland communities. The chapter has been recognized by Central Region for her service. Pi Nu has received the Chapter with the Highest GPA award and has won awards for continuous work in the community in the areas of AKA Connections, combating Alzheimer's disease and global impact.
Pi Nu's signature program is the Angel Tree program, in collaboration with the Salvation Army Chicago Metropolitan Division. Each member of the undergraduate and graduate chapter selects a tag that represents the wishes and desires of a child or youth whose parent or parents are incarcerated. This is an opportunity to spread joy and cheer to the less fortunate during the holidays. Pi Nu has donated over 800 toys to this cause which promote the sorority's family strengthening efforts.
Pi Nu is continuously striving to be of service to all mankind.
