27th Central Regional Director Pamela Bates Porch is a dynamic, multi-talented early childhood educator with more than 30 years of experience with the Chicago Public Schools – the nation’s third largest public school district. She is currently teaching at Charles P. Caldwell Academy in Chicago’s Avalon Park neighborhood. She began her career with CPS after receiving a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Chicago State University.
![]() A Silver Star, Soror Pam was elected 27th Central Regional Director at the 72nd Central Regional Conference in Chicago, Illinois, and installed at the 62nd Boule in Detroit, Michigan. As Director, Soror Pam will lead the 8-state region as it pursues an Extraordinary Service Program. Soror Pam was initiated into the sorority on January 21, 1971, at Delta Beta Chapter, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Since that time she has worked at all levels of the sisterhood – locally, regionally and internationally – as an undergraduate and graduate soror. Soror Pam joined Xi Nu Omega in 1985 and has served the chapter in numerous capacities including Graduate Advisor to Pi Nu Chapter at Northeastern Illinois University, Monarch Awards Foundation Secretary, Anti-Basileus and, of course, Basileus. She chaired and sat on numerous chapter committees including Membership, Scholarship, Founders’ Day, Undergraduate Relations, Development and Program. She has received numerous awards from Xi Nu Omega, including Soror Through the Years, Outstanding Service and Soror of the Year. During her term as Anti-Basileus and Program Chairman, she instituted the Music & Arts Explosion, which is going into its 16th year. For 10 years, she was a member of Xi Nu Omega’s Monarch Awards Foundation Board of Directors. She has presented workshops at and served as a speaker for chapters and at Alpha Kappa Alpha Leadership Seminars, Area Retreats and Regional Conferences. She is the former Director of the Central Region Graduate Advisors Institute and North Area Cluster Retreat Coordinator. She formerly co-chaired the Regional Nominating Committee and served as Regional Representative to the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. In 1994, she was named Central Region Graduate Advisor of the Year; the next year she received 1st Runner Up honors. Professionally, Soror Pam has served as a Chicago Teachers Union Steward and Quest Center Instructor, Caldwell Academy Local School Council member and Caldwell Child Advocacy Team member. In 1997, she was named Teacher of the Year by the Illinois PTA for District #299 (CPS). She was previously nominated for a Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching.
![]() A licensed minister and motivational speaker, Soror Pam serves as Assistant Pastor at St. James Baptist Church in Chicago. She is the mother of two soror-daughters – Danielle Porch Spicer and Jerelyn Porch – and the grandmother of Robert Spicer, Jr.
